Relation to the future
S-Science
Nanobots
Nanotechnology is the science and application of creating objects on a level smaller than 100 nanometers. The extreme concept of nanotechnology is the "bottom up" creation of virtually any material or object by assembling one atom at a time. Nanotechnology has the potential to completely revolutionize the electronics industry. Nanotechnology has numerous energy-related applications. Nano photonics is the application of nanotechnology to the transformation of electricity to light or light to electricity. Nano machines may some day create computer circuits from the “bottom up” -- one atom at a time.
T-Technology
Advanced Robotics
One current example is a robot developed by a team of scientists at the University of Zurich. Ecci, is short for Eccerobot. Ecci, as it has been named, is the first ever robot to have 'muscles' and 'tendons', as well as the 'bones' they help move. All made of a specially developed plastic. The robot uses a series of electric motors to move the joints the tendons are connected to and a computer built into the brain of Ecci allows him to learn from his mistakes.
E-Engineering
Bionics/Artificial skin
A team of chemists and engineers created a flexible, self-healing, conductive material. The team led by chemical engineering professor Zhenan Bao, combined a plastic consisting of chains of molecules joined by hydrogen bonds, with rough nanoparticles of nickel. The bumpy edges, Tee said, concentrate the electrical field and make it easier for current to flow from one particle to the next. Twisting or pressing on the material changes the distance between the metal particles and therefore the resistance; such changes can be translated to measurements of pressure. When sliced with a scalpel and then pressed back together, the material recovers 75 percent of its mechanical strength and electrical conductivity in seconds; 100 percent in about half an hour. The team envisions prosthetic arms that can detect the pressure of a handshake or the degree of bend in a joint, as well as electrical wires that can repair themselves when broken.
A-Art
Touch screen paintings
These works of art could easily be mistaken for oil paintings or watercolours - but they've actually been created on an Ipad. The pictures were created using fingers and apps such as Brushes, ArtStudio and Sketchbook Pro. The device is attracting established artists, who are abandoning canvases in favour of the 9.7-inch iPad screen.

Boson particle theory
The Higgs boson is a theorised sub-atomic particle that is believed to confer
mass. The Higgs Boson is based on a particle which is a left-over excitation of the Higgs field, which in turn was needed in the Standard Model to 1) explain the weak nuclear force and 2) explain why any of the other particles have mass at all.
