How the plague spread
Map showing the spread of the bubonic plague, which was also known as the Black Death, which was responsible for causing an estimated 25 million deaths throughout Europe. The Black Death arrived in Europe in October 1347 by 12 Genoese trading ships which docked at the Sicilian port of Messina.

The Black Death Changed Europe during the middle Ages in the following ways:
1. Population decreased due to death.
2. Religion was questioned because many people’s belief in it changed.
3. Trade slowed, which resulted in higher prices and less workers.
4. New laws were put into place to keep the prices down.
5. The new laws led to the Peasant Revolt in 1381.
6. The class social ways or status of many people changed.
7. Many people were left in poverty.
